The preparatory class in Applied Arts is a multidisciplinary and transversal year allowing to acquire the theoretical, technical, and methodological bases common to all the professions of graphic design and digital creation. With the exploration of the first creative techniques, he discovers the extent of the possibilities and forges his creative character.
The preparatory year in Applied Arts allows you to specify your professional project and to affirm a choice of orientation among the different courses offered.

Years 2 and 3 of the Art Direction program enable you to approach all types of projects with method, creativity and organizational skills: graphic design, packaging design, web design or advertising.

The last two years of the Art Direction program enable students to deepen their skills in visual communication and art direction. 2 specializations are offered in 4th year: Interactivity & Innovation and Immersive Spaces & Concepts.

What are the learning objectives of the Art Direction program?
BRASSART’s Art Direction program equips students with the skills to design and oversee the creative process and implementation of graphic and digital communication projects. Throughout the program, students learn to analyze client requests, define strategic recommendations in graphic design, and develop creative concepts.
What is the structure of the Art Direction program?
The Art Direction program lasts 5 years, including a preparatory year if needed. After the preparatory year, the first two years of the program comprise approximately 1,350 hours of instruction, followed by a 2- to 3-month internship in the 3rd year. The 4th year, which allows students to specialize in either Interactivity and Innovation or Immersive Spaces and Concepts, includes 480 hours of instruction and a 2- to 4-month internship at the end of the year. Finally, the 5th year is structured as a work-study program, with one week at school and three weeks in a company.
What are the prerequisites for applying to the Art Direction program?
To enter the preparatory class or for parallel admission into the 2nd or 3rd year, applicants must hold a high school diploma or a Level 4 qualification. Entry into the 4th year requires 180 ECTS credits and/or a validated BAC+3 level of study. Finally, admission to the 5th year requires 240 ECTS credits and/or a validated BAC+4 level of study.
How can I apply to the Art Direction program?
Applications must be submitted up to two months before the September intake. After reviewing your application, an individual motivation interview is scheduled. For the 4th and 5th years, applications must be submitted six months prior to the start of the program. Entry tests will assess the student’s artistic and technical level, followed by an individual interview.
What career opportunities are available after completing the Art Direction program?
The Art Direction program trains professionals who can pursue careers as art directors, brand designers, UX designers, or creative directors across various sectors: advertising and communications, publishing and print, video games, audiovisual and film, web and digital, fashion and luxury. Opportunities are diverse, depending on individual interests and skills.

In addition to the work-study 5th year, which helps students begin their professional journey, the Art Direction program builds on complementary theoretical and practical courses to provide all the keys to success.
