After a preparatory year, our training in Graphic Arts in three years gives all the keys to the professions associated with drawing, through teaching from academic fundamentals to digital techniques. The End of Studies Project (PFE) allows you to specialize in the profession of your choice and an optional year is available on the BRASSART campuses in Bordeaux and Tours.
Preparatory Class
in Applied Arts

The preparatory class in Applied Arts is a multidisciplinary and transversal year allowing to acquire the theoretical, technical, and methodological bases common to all the professions of graphic design and digital creation. With the exploration of the first creative techniques, he discovers the extent of the possibilities and forges his creative character.
The preparatory year in Applied Arts allows you to specify your professional project and to affirm a choice of orientation among the different courses offered.

Graphic Arts Illustration course (Years 2 to 4)
Both creative and technical, the Graphic Arts training trains students in the creation of graphic visual aids and addresses the areas of narration and imagery. In the final year, students choose to specialize in children’s illustration / comics, storyboarding and 2D animation or concept art and 3D.

Graphic Arts Illustration course (Year 5)
An optional fifth year is available to specialize in comic book authoring (Bordeaux campus) and 2D Animation & Storyboarding (Tours campus). A true year of expertise, the 5th year is highly professional and allows students to fully immerse themselves in the world of comic book publishing or 2D animation.

What are the learning objectives of the Graphic Arts & Illustration program?
The main objective of the program is to create and adapt graphic concepts across various media and formats. From the 2nd to the 4th year, the Graphic Arts Illustration program allows students to develop and refine their drawing techniques on different media, understand narrative forms, and build a solid graphic and artistic culture. The optional 5th year offers two specializations: one in Comic Book Authoring and the other in 2D Animation and Storyboarding.
What is the structure of the Graphic Arts & Illustration program?
The Graphic Arts Illustration program lasts 4 years, including a preparatory year if needed, with a total of approximately 2,600 hours of instruction (excluding the preparatory year). It is also possible to complete a 2-week to 2-month internship in the 3rd year, and a 1- to 2-month internship or a semester abroad in the 4th year. An optional 5th year is offered on the Bordeaux and Tours campuses.
What are the prerequisites for applying to the Graphic Arts & Illustration program?
Applicants must hold a high school diploma or a Level 4 qualification for entry into the preparatory class or for parallel admission into the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year. Direct entry into the 5th year requires a Level 6 qualification. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong general knowledge and regular practice in artistic disciplines.
How can I apply to the Graphic Arts & Illustration program?
Applications must be submitted 2 to 6 months before the September intake (2 months for the preparatory class, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years, and 6 months for the 5th year). Following the review of applications, at-home tests and in-person interviews are organized. Please note that for admission to the preparatory class or via parallel entry, an artistic and academic portfolio will also be required.
