The preparatory classes in applied arts and audiovisual at BRASSART have a dual objective: to bring students up to speed with their knowledge and to help them discover new fields.

- Upgrading: the applied arts and audiovisual preparatory classes will enable students to assimilate the fundamentals so that they can start their course at BRASSART with complete confidence.
- Discovering careers in digital design: BRASSART's preparatory classes are also an excellent way of fine-tuning your professional orientation through discovery options in the field of digital design.

The BRASSART school of graphic design offers the Adobe Suite, which includes the main graphic design software: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro!

For the preparatory class in applied arts, the BRASSART school has teamed up with a national brand to offer a complete set of artistic tools at a preferential rate: charcoal markers, acrylics, sketchbook, etc.

A work placement is compulsory if you want to validate your training and obtain your diploma. The length and timing of work placements vary from program to program.

Above all, a work placement is a real opportunity to validate your career plan and develop your network. To make it easier for you to find what you are looking for, the Corporate Relations Department will be happy to help you. You can also count on our network of partner companies, and our alumni network of over 12,000 people will also be a considerable asset.

The Graphic Design School BRASSART has chosen to work with professionals and contributors from the sector to ensure that its teaching is as close as possible to the life of a company.

Each discipline covered has its own expert, whether in graphic arts, video games, graphic design, 3D animation or comic strips!

As a guarantee of quality, the Graphic Design School BRASSART awards state-recognised diplomas. The BRASSART school awards Level 5 (Bac+2), Level 6 (Bac+3/4) and Level 7 (Bac+5) professional qualifications listed in the Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles. We even offer a state diploma as part of the BTS Audiovisual.

The Graphic Design School BRASSART promotes mobility and the exchange of skills between its 15 national campuses. So if a student wants to specialise in a field that is not offered at their current BRASSART school, or if they are moving house, they can submit their plans to change campuses to the teaching team.

Each BRASSART school of graphic design has a school-company relations department which will help you in your search for an internship and put you in touch with various companies to validate your year.

The BRASSART school has a strong network of partners (agencies, studios, advertisers) to which the graphic design school sends internship offers. The school has been in existence for over 75 years, so it is very well known in its ecosystem and has a network of over 12,000 graduates, which will make it easier for you to find an internship.

Depending on the course and pathway, work placements vary in length from 2 months to 5 months.

The work placement may be in an agency or with an advertiser, in the creative field chosen by the student. The aim is for students to validate their career plans and develop their professional network.

The preparatory class in applied arts or audiovisual is not compulsory to join BRASSART. When you apply, your level will be assessed. If it is sufficient, you will be able to enter the 2nd year of one of our artistic courses.

Depending on the course of study you choose, the days at BRASSART are very different. BRASSART has partnerships with banks to help you finance your studies.

Depending on the course you choose, you can choose a specialisation within your BRASSART graphic design training:

- Artistic Direction Course - 2 specialisations : Interactivity & Innovation, Spaces & Immersive Concepts
- Graphic Arts Illustration Course - 3 specialisations : Comics / Illustration, Concept Art & 3D, Storyboard & 2D Animation (and an optional 5th year, Comic book author specialization or 2D Animation & Storyboard specialisation)

All work placements during your training at BRASSART are paid as soon as they last more than 2 months.

There are several options for your course in graphic design at BRASSART:
- After the year of preparatory classes in applied arts, you select the program you wish to join: Graphic Arts Illustration, Artistic Direction, Infographics Eco-design, or 3D Animation & Immersion.
- Once you have started your course in one of these streams, a specialisation is usually offered in the final year. This enables you to gain an insight into many different worlds and professions before specialising.

If you choose to join our Game Design / Video Games stream to become a Game Designer, the specialisation will take place at the end of the course.

The Graphic Design School BRASSART has been ranked among the best graphic design schools by Eduniversal:
- The Game Design course is in 2nd position among the best video games courses
- The Artistic Direction curriculum is in 3rd position among the best courses in Graphic Design
- The 3D Animation / Video Games Game art course is in 5th position among the best 3D Animation courses.

Throughout the courses, our students are taught in English. This enables them to acquire and familiarise themselves with the technical vocabulary associated with the creative professions so that they can join studios and agencies abroad.

At the BRASSART Nantes School of Design, students can follow a Graphic & Digital Design curriculum in a bilingual French-English format, with almost 70% of the courses in English.

Holidays at BRASSART depend on your year of training and your campus. They generally coincide with the French national education system's school holidays.

The methods used to validate the years of study vary according to the course and the year. Assessments are made both during mid-term exams (2 per year) and on an ongoing basis throughout the year, thanks to reports produced during workshops. A larger project is scheduled at the end of each year. A full year will enable you to validate 60 ECTS credits.

Our courses are taught in French only. However, our syllabuses include English language classes throughout the course to enable students to acquire the technical vocabulary specific to their chosen field. On the Nantes campus, students can follow a Graphic Design & Digital programme in a bilingual French-English format, with almost 70% of the courses in English. On the Parisian Campus, you can also take the Applied Arts Preparatory Class in English.

ECTS were created at European level to facilitate student mobility between different countries. Today, each semester is equivalent to 30 ECTS, so one year of study corresponds to 60 ECTS. The number of ECTS accumulated will therefore vary depending on the length of your course. For the Graphic Design and 3D Animation programmes, for example, you will finish your course with 300 ECTS.

Each campus has associations and clubs that offer students a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including charity, community work and sports. You'll also benefit from cultural outings, student parties, afterwork sessions and themed breakfasts, all of which add to the rhythm of your life on campus and encourage conviviality and solidarity between students. VAE, or Validation des Acquis de l'Expérience, is an excellent way of obtaining official recognition of your skills. Regardless of your age, status or level of training, you can apply for VAE. The VAE process takes between 8 and 12 months of preparation and consists of 5 main stages:
- Information about the VAE procedure
- Submission of an admissibility file
- Compiling the validation file
- Oral defence and presentation of work to a jury
- The panel's decision

A VAE in graphic design at BRASSART does not require a work placement. This process takes 8 to 12 months of preparation following receipt of the application, and is validated by an oral presentation in front of a panel of judges. To find out more, see our ‘VAE process’ page.
